Every job follows a real-world decision process as we work. Here’s how it breaks down:

Step 1: We Sort Everything on the Job

​

From the second we start loading, we’re already sorting items into four mental categories:

​

• ✅ Donation-worthy

• ✅ Scrap metal

• ✅ Electronics

• ✅ General disposal

 

This helps us move fast while still being responsible.

Step 2: We Pull Out Donate-Able Items

​

When time allows and the condition is right, we pull aside items that still have solid value, such as:

​

• Couches in good shape

• Dressers and shelving

• Kitchen items

• Household décor

• Small furniture

• Gently used everyday goods

 

We regularly donate to:

• Thrift N Thrive

• Goodwill

• ARC

 

That said some large furniture does still go to landfills if donation centers won’t accept it due to floor space limits, damage, or safety concerns. We always follow their rules.

Step 3: We Separate Scrap Metal & Electronics

​

Certain materials should never go straight into the trash if recycling is available.

We separate out:

​

• Scrap metal

• Select appliances

• Electronics and e-waste

 

These go to local recycle centers where the materials can be processed responsibly instead of buried in the ground.

Step 4: We Take the Rest to Transfer Stations or Landfills

​

Once donation and recycling efforts are complete, the remaining materials are taken to:

​

• ✅ Transfer stations (our preference)

• ✅ County landfills when required

 

We prefer transfer stations because:

• There are usually fewer nails and sharp debris

• It’s safer for our trailers and tires

• It allows faster turnaround, which helps keep same-day and next-day service available

 

What We Can Donate vs. What Must Be Disposed Of

Here’s a realistic breakdown homeowners appreciate:

✅ Items That Are Often Donatable:

• Clean furniture in usable condition

• Small appliances that still work

• Home décor

• Kitchenware

• Shelving

• Gently used household items

 

❌ Items That Usually Must Be Dumped:

• Moldy or water-damaged furniture

• Mattresses

• Broken or unstable furniture

• Pet-contaminated items

• Certain oversized items donation centers won’t accept

• Hazardous materials (most haulers can’t legally take these at all)

 

When there’s any doubt, we default to donating or recycling first whenever possible.
